ORE Syllabus UK — Part 1 & Part 2 Topics
The ORE syllabus spans clinical sciences in Part 1 and practical competencies in Part 2. Mapping topics to the right resources stops you reading passively without exam-ready recall.

- Part 2: DTP, OSCE and skills books (shop)
- Free 50 questions to baseline Part 1
- Mock papers before your exam date
ORE syllabus topics and study resources
Our ore syllabus guide explains what overseas dentists need: part 1 rewards breadth plus depth in applied sciences — not memorising isolated facts. Work through syllabus themes in the revision book, then immediately test each area with SBA and EMQ questions from the bank.
Part 2 requires scenario practice: treatment planning cases, OSCE communication, operative technique and emergency management. Match each syllabus area to a specific Enamel resource rather than trying to cover everything from generic notes.
This ORE syllabus guide explains what overseas dentists need for UK registration through the ORE route. Use our ORE syllabus resources alongside official GDC guidance and Enamel Academy shop products for structured preparation. See also: ORE revision book, ORE study plan.
Read a syllabus topic, then test with the question bank — not passive reading alone.

Who is the ORE exam for?
The ORE is for overseas dental graduates whose primary qualification is not recognised for direct GDC registration and who must demonstrate competence to practise dentistry in the UK.
How long should I prepare for ORE Part 1?
Most candidates need three to six months combining syllabus review, daily SBA/EMQ practice and at least one full mock exam cycle before sitting Part 1.
Should I study Part 1 and Part 2 topics at the same time?
Prioritise Part 1 until it is secured. Light familiarity with Part 2 formats can help motivation, but deep Part 2 prep is best saved for after Part 1.
How does the revision book map to the syllabus?
Chapters follow ORE Part 1 curriculum themes — applied sciences, clinical topics and exam-relevant summaries designed for Paper A and Paper B preparation.
Where can I see the official ORE syllabus?
The GDC publishes examination blueprints and guidance for overseas registration routes. Cross-reference official documents with your study materials.
