ORE Exam

In order for overseas dental graduates to register with the General Dental Council (GDC) and become licenced practitioners in the UK, they must pass the Overseas Registration Exam (ORE), which is a test of their expertise. The test is divided into two sections: The theoretical understanding of dentistry is covered in Part I.An operational test on a dental manikin (DM), an OSCE, a diagnostic and treatment planning exercise (DTP), and finally a practical exam in medical emergencies make up Part II of the exam (ME). The ORE is a test that certified dentists from outside the European Union (EU) economic region must pass in order to practise dentistry unsupervised inside the EU. After completing this test, the qualified international dentist can register with the General Dental Council (GDC) and start practising independently. The ORE exam evaluates qualified foreign dentists’ academic knowledge and actual clinical skills.
